Scammers on Telegram use fake account deletion notifications to steal user data. On June 3, the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia warned about this.

The agency noted that fraudsters send messages to victims asking them to urgently cancel the blocking procedure, often with a malicious link through which users voluntarily transmit the authorization code.

To recognize the actions of scammers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends checking the date of profile creation (2024-2025 accounts are suspicious) and paying attention to the country of registration (unexpected countries arouse suspicion).

"Official Telegram service accounts do not have the status of "Was recently", they do not offer to add them to contacts or block them," UBK also noted in the Telegram channel.

Also on May 31, it was reported that scammers use pseudo-official terms to create a sense of legitimacy and urgency among people. One of the most common formulations is "secure account". In the Russian banking system, there are no special accounts of the Central Bank or law enforcement agencies for transferring citizens' money.
