Rosatom announced the possibility of obtaining energy for millennia

Humanity can get an almost inexhaustible source of energy thanks to the development of fourth-generation nuclear reactor technologies. This was announced on June 3 by Evgeny Adamov, scientific director of the Breakthrough project at Rosatom State Corporation.

"If this work is brought to an industrial result, and I have no doubt it will be, humanity will have an almost inexhaustible source of energy," he said in an interview with TASS at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

According to Adamov, the industrial implementation of the developed technologies is expected after 2034. As the scientist emphasized, the development of fourth-generation reactors also contributes to strengthening the nuclear nonproliferation regime and can become the basis for long-term energy development.

This will help the local economy reduce dependence on imported coal and strengthen relations between the two countries.

On April 23, Rosatom State Corporation announced that the first power unit of the Ruppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh, built with the participation of Russia, is ready for the physical start of the reactor, and specialists have completed an inspection of the reactor plant equipment. During 2026, the unit will be brought to a minimum controlled power level, followed by a power start-up stage with electricity supply.
