The IAEA reported a lack of electricity at the nuclear power plant last night

Last night, the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) was left without electricity. This was announced on June 3 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"For the 17th time during the military conflict, the Zaporizhia NPP was temporarily left without power supply outside the site during the night," the agency said in a message on the social network X (former. Twitter).

It is noted that the power outage occurred due to a drone strike on the Nikopol substation on the other side of the Dnieper River from the station. After that, the only remaining power line went down for about 20 minutes. During this time, the power supply was carried out through emergency diesel generators, after which the line was restored.

The previous time, the NPP temporarily lost external power supply on the night of May 29. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi noted that the causes of the incident have not yet been determined.
