Macron meets with the French national team before the 2026 World Cup

On June 2, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte met with members of the country's national football team before the 2026 World Cup.

"Team! <...> Trust and unity. Give it your all!" the French leader signed the corresponding photos and video clip, which he posted on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The meeting took place at the football team's training base in Clairefontaine. The President talked with the players and coaches, after which they took a photo together, Sport-Express adds.

The Foot Mercato portal reported on May 22 that Macron was booed by football fans when he entered the field to greet the players of Lens and Nice. According to the results of the match, Lens became the winner of the French Football Cup of the 2025/26 season. The match against the team from Nice ended with a score of 3:1.
