In Primorsky Krai, telephone fraudsters lured 4.7 million rubles from a pensioner, the investigation of the case is under the control of the prosecutor's office. This was announced on June 3 by the regional supervisory authority.

"According to preliminary data, a resident of the village (urban-type settlement. Shkotovo, born in 1956, became a victim of telephone fraud and lost 4.7 million rubles," the publication says in the Maks messenger.

It is noted that at first a fraudster called the woman, who allegedly introduced herself as an employee of the Gosuslugi service and claimed "theft" of personal data.

As specified in the message, the victim further received calls from individuals who posed as law enforcement officers and specialists in countering telephone fraud.

The prosecutor's office noted that the callers, using the prevention of illegal transactions as an excuse, convinced the woman to withdraw money and transfer it through an intermediary to a "secure account."

The publication reports that the woman handed over cash, totaling 4.7 million rubles, to an unknown girl using a code word, after which she disappeared. The interdistrict prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale").

On June 2, Izvestia found out that Russian bloggers had become victims of a large-scale fraudulent scheme when booking luxury vacations, with the total amount of damage estimated at over 50 million rubles. According to the victims, the organizer of the scheme positioned herself as a VIP player in the hotel business with exclusive access to hotels around the world.
