On June 2, Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs said at a press conference after a government meeting that he firmly insists on suspending the country's economic ties with Russia and Belarus.

"This is an unnecessary addiction that only worsens the situation," Delfi reports him as saying.

It is noted that the Prime Minister intends to instruct Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braja to find a solution to this issue in coordination with the European Union (EU).

In addition, Kulbergs noted that the pharmaceutical industry in Latvia will not be able to quickly switch to other markets, so this issue is planned to be discussed with representatives of pharmaceutical companies. However, he did not specify which other sectors of the economy could expect exceptions.
