The XII Primakov Readings International Forum will be held in Moscow
On June 23-24, the 12th International Scientific and Expert forum "Primakov Readings" will be held in Moscow at the Radisson Blu Leninsky Prospect Hotel in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The forum's theme is "A WORLD WITHOUT RULES: A POWER PLAY?"
The event will be attended by Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev, as well as leading Russian and foreign experts in the field of international security, world politics and economics, representatives of public organizations, diplomats and politicians.
The forum's program is built around discussing key challenges of global politics and economics. The discussions will focus on the global consequences of regional conflicts, the internal dimension of US foreign policy, the conflict in the Middle East and its evolution, the emerging scenarios of the world order, barriers and risks to global trade and investment, Eurasian security in the light of Russia's CSTO presidency, as well as international competition in the field of artificial intelligence and a new round of military-technical competition.
Experts will pay special attention to the prospects for de-escalation of conflicts in the Middle East, the possibilities of forming a new regional security architecture and the role of non-Western states in stabilizing the situation in the region. The discussions will also address the consequences of the termination of the START Treaty, the risks of the collapse of the arms control system, and the impact of new military technologies on strategic stability in an accelerating arms race.
"In Russia and in the world, the liberal world order, "based on rules," has been harshly and fairly criticized. In 2022-2026, he finally went down in history. The breakdown has come, the obvious fragmentation of the global political and economic architecture and the almost complete dictate of power in the field of international security, based on the combined (economic and military) power of States, without international law and its institutions. In these circumstances, the value of the remaining "anchors of stability" and the demand for strengthening alternative international institutions to Western ones is growing. Such powerful "anchors" include Russian-Chinese and Russian-Indian relations, institutions such as BRICS, SCO, EAEU, ASEAN and some others. At the same time, there is a critical reassessment of the US attempts to return the world to a unipolar architecture. Such processes are taking place in Europe as a whole, in the monarchies of the Gulf, Turkey, Southeast Asia, and others," said Academician A.A. Dynkin, President of the Primakov Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The event will be attended by about 50 experts from 20 countries, including China, India, the United States, Iran, Great Britain, Uzbekistan, Belarus and others.
The organizers of the event are the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Primakov Center for Foreign Policy Cooperation.
