The number of accidents involving SIM decreased in Russia by a quarter
By the end of 2025, 3,275 accidents involving personal mobility equipment (IMS) were registered in Russia, which is 26% less than a year earlier. As a result of these incidents, 68 (+25.9%) people were killed and 3,389 (-26.2%) people were injured. This is reported in the latest report of the Scientific Center for Road Safety (NCBDD), which was reviewed by Izvestia.
The largest number of accidents was registered in Moscow (629 cases), Krasnodar Territory (198), and St. Petersburg (193), as well as in Nizhny Novgorod (181) and Sverdlovsk (152) regions. Deaths in such incidents were recorded in 36 regions, and the largest number were in St. Petersburg (six cases), the Krasnodar Territory and the Sverdlovsk Region (five each), in Moscow and the Moscow Region (four each).
Of all those killed in such accidents, 64 people (94.1%) were traveling by SIM, and three of them were passengers. Two of the dead were pedestrians, one was a cyclist, and another was a motorcycle driver. Among the injured, the majority (74.3%) were driving SIM, another 5.7% were passengers, and almost a fifth (17.2%) were pedestrians.
In 51% of accidents, the SIM involved belonged to individuals, and in 43.9% of accidents, they belonged to short—term rental services. Of all fatal accidents, SIM cards from kicksharing services were involved in 14 cases, while in the remaining 54 accidents they belonged to individuals.
Due to traffic violations by persons operating the SIM, 2,337 accidents occurred, which is 71.4% of the total number of such accidents. 46 people (67.6% of the total) died in these incidents. Earlier, on May 21, it was reported that in 2026, the Russian Ministry of Transport, together with the regional authorities, plans to approve infrastructure development plans for personal mobility equipment (IMS).
