"As someone who has lived in Seattle for many years, it is very important for me to get the opportunity to invest in our city and its future. I truly believe in the power of sports. After many years of supporting Seattle's sports teams, I am pleased to establish a closer connection with the city's sports community," Gates said.
It is reported that she will become a minority shareholder of One Roof Sports and Entertainment, which manages Seattle and its home arena. The deal is currently awaiting confirmation by the NHL leadership.
