Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has not ruled out the possibility of assuming the post of prime minister after the end of his presidential term in 2027. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 2.

"When asked if he would like to return to the post of prime minister again, he said that 'it could happen' because his Serbian Progressive Party might need his leadership," the publication says.

The Head of State said that parliamentary and presidential elections will be held in the country this year. He explained that he would not be able to run for a new presidential term, as this is prohibited by the Serbian constitution.

During his visit to China on May 24, Vucic announced that he might resign soon. He stressed that he was not going to prematurely reduce his powers, as former President Boris Tadic had done earlier.

On May 26, political analyst Pavel Danilin told who, in the event of Vucic's resignation, could be candidates for the presidency. According to him, the two most likely candidates are Vladan Petrov and Vladan Djokic. He added that the upcoming parliamentary elections remain a key event, which are important for Vucic and his party in terms of maintaining a majority.
