A court has sentenced a man to six years in prison for justifying terrorism.

In the Khabarovsk Territory, a court sentenced a resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur to six years in a general regime prison for justifying terrorism. This was announced on June 2 by the prosecutor's office of the Khabarovsk Territory.

"By the verdict of the 1st Eastern District Military Court, a 35-year-old resident of the city of Yunost was convicted of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public justification of terrorism committed using the Internet information and telecommunications network)," the publication says in the Maks messenger.

It is clarified that the man posted a comment in an open group on the Internet under a video recording of a terrorist act, in which he justified criminal actions. The sentence provides for six years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime colony.

The convicted person is also prohibited from engaging in activities related to the publication of materials on information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet.

On May 30, a court in Moscow arrested a man in the case of an attempt to blow up the building of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. By the decision of the Basmanny District Court, the malefactor was detained until July 29.
