The State Duma told about the way students receive maternity leave benefits

Pregnant students, as well as working women, are entitled to maternity leave with a benefit calculated according to the regional subsistence level, which is accrued immediately for the entire vacation period. This was announced on June 2 by Nikolai Kolomeitsev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.

"The allowance for such mothers is calculated from the regional subsistence level and is calculated immediately for the entire vacation period. Previously, it was equal to a scholarship, but since September 1, 2025, it has increased to a living wage," Kolomeitsev told RIA Novosti.

The deputy clarified that students expecting a child can apply for benefits from the Social Fund of the Russian Federation, regardless of the form of education — budgetary or paid, if they study full-time at universities, colleges or colleges.
