President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has faced serious political pressure due to an investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) into the former head of his office, Andriy Ermak. This was reported on Monday, June 1, by The New York Times (NYT).

"Corruption cases tend to haunt Ukrainian presidents. Just as Mr. Zelensky began to gain momentum and receive redoubled support from European allies, Yermak triumphantly returned to the political scene, once again creating a political headache for his former boss," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, last year was accompanied for the head of the Kiev regime not only by corruption scandals and failures at the front, but also by strict demands from Washington to end the conflict on almost any terms. Despite the fact that Ukraine's anti-corruption authorities have not yet directly charged Zelensky, the situation remains extremely difficult for him.

The newspaper Die Zeit reported on May 21 that European leaders are calling on Zelensky to investigate the corruption scandal involving the head of his office, Ermak, for the sake of the country's membership in the European Union (EU). It was noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had personally discussed this topic with Zelensky several times and insisted on explanations.
