The global smartphone market in 2026 will show a record decline in the entire history of observations, according to a report by the analytical company Counterpoint Research (CR), published on Monday, June 1.

"According to forecasts, global smartphone shipments in 2026 will decrease by 13.9% year—on-year, falling to 1.08 billion units, which will be the lowest annual rate since 2013 and a sharper decline than our February forecast of 12.4%," the publication says.

Experts call the worsening situation with the supply of RAM modules a key factor in the negative dynamics. Problems with logistics and the production of components arose against the background of the outbreak of the armed conflict between the United States and Iran, which hampered the international supply of components.

According to analysts, Apple and Samsung will be the most isolated companies. At the same time, as CR clarified, Huawei will be the only brand that is expected to increase shipments.

Earlier, on May 27, it was reported that in April 2026, smartphone shipments from China to Russia reached their highest volumes since the end of 2024. The cost of exporting phones to Russia amounted to $211.1 million. At the same time, import volumes increased by 26% over the month. In annual terms, shipments increased by 1.7 times.
