A third of ticks turned out to be carriers of infections in Buryatia
In Buryatia, every third tick turned out to be a carrier of infections. Borreliosis was most often detected in laboratory pest studies.
A total of 313 ticks taken from humans were included in the study. Pathogens of various diseases were detected in 30% of the samples. Lyme disease, which affects the skin, joints, and nervous system, was detected in 26% of the tests. This is reported by IA UlanMedia.
In addition, there is one patient in the infectious diseases hospital who has confirmed infection with tick-borne encephalitis. The doctors clarified that he had not been vaccinated against the disease. The victim did not know about the bite for a long time, as the tick itself had disappeared. After some time, the symptoms of the disease appeared — fever, headache and loss of appetite. The patient went to the hospital on his own.
According to entomologists, when going out into nature, you should choose light-colored clothes that fit snugly to the body. There should be no open areas of the body where a tick can bite.
