Chinese automaker GAC has started accepting pre-orders for the S9 full-size hybrid crossover. This was announced on June 1 in the company's press release.

The new model is largely unified with the S7 crossover, which is already available on the Russian market, but it is larger — 5060 mm. Unlike the Chinese version of the Trumpchi S9, the Russian version is equipped with conventional door handles, lacks lidar, and its power plant operates in a sequential manner.

The total power reserve reaches 1019 km according to the new European NEDC driving cycle. The interior is decorated with natural nappa leather and natural wood. The body will be painted in white, black, ultra—black silver, blue, gray, and will also offer a two-tone version - blue and silver.

The total warranty period of the GAC S9 model is five years or 150,000 kilometers, and the elements of the hybrid system will receive an extended warranty of eight years or 150,000 kilometers. Prices, options and the date of the start of sales in Russia are promised to be announced in the near future.

Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said on April 21 that the fleet of electric cars (BEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV and EREV) in Russia exceeded 200 thousand units. In the first quarter of this year, 2.3 thousand electric cars and 13.6 thousand rechargeable hybrid cars were registered. About 500 units of used electric vehicles were also imported into the country.
