The urologist warned about possible asymptomatic kidney pathologies in children
Mikhail Nikitsky, a pediatric urologist and surgeon, PhD, warned that congenital kidney diseases in children can be asymptomatic for years.
In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On June 1, the specialist said that the absence of complaints in a child does not always mean that he is healthy: many dangerous pathologies can be asymptomatic for a long time and manifest themselves at a late stage. According to him, problems are especially often associated with congenital diseases of the kidneys and urinary system, such as hydronephrosis or reflux, and one missed diagnosis can lead to serious consequences, including organ loss.
The expert stressed that a child can look active and feel good despite developing pathology, so it is important not to skip routine examinations, especially at an early age. He also noted that many problems, including developmental disorders or conditions like cryptorchidism, can be identified and corrected without surgery with timely treatment.
According to the doctor, parents often come too late, when surgery is no longer necessary, although prevention avoids severe treatment and stress for the child. Nikitsky added that early diagnosis remains the key to maintaining health and reducing the risks of serious complications.
On June 1, Natalya Shipareva, a family nutritionist, urged people not to eat watermelon before going to bed because of its strong diuretic effect and sugar content. If the body does not have time to process a large volume of fluid before bedtime, this can cause its delay and the appearance of edema in the morning, notes 360.ru .
In addition, too large a portion of sweet cherries can be fatal for patients with kidney problems. This is due to the fact that cherries contain a lot of potassium, which only a healthy body can remove without problems, NSN clarifies. At the same time, the berry is safe for healthy people, if you do not exceed the norm — about 300 g at a time, according to the website kp.ru .
In March, Olga Kozina, a nephrologist, warned about the risk of unnoticed development of kidney disease. Signs of the disease may include fatigue and dry skin.
Earlier, urologist and andrologist Artur Bogatyrev told the newspaper.Ru" about non-obvious symptoms of kidney diseases. Kidney failure can manifest itself in various symptoms — it can be problems with urination, swelling, back pain, decreased appetite, blood in the urine, as well as spikes in temperature and pressure. According to him, congenital diseases can manifest themselves both immediately after birth and later, and acute forms of kidney failure are most often detected in children under two years of age, writes RT.
