The film "Red Silk" will be shown as part of the International Chinese Film Festival, which will be held from June 8 to 14 in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok. The film will be presented by Art Pictures Distribution (part of the National Media Group holding). The festival is organized by ROSKINO in cooperation with the Chinese Film Research Center with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the State Administration of Cinematography of the People's Republic of China.

"The mutual interest of Russian and Chinese viewers in the modern national cinematography of our countries confirms the respect and friendship between the two peoples. We are pleased to continue the annual tradition of cross-screening films as part of the cultural exchange between Russia and China. The extensive geography of the screenings will allow viewers from different regions of Russia to get acquainted with the rich genres of the Chinese film industry," said Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The spy detective story takes place in 1927 on the Trans-Siberian Express, where scouts and criminals hunting for secret documents hide under the guise of passengers. The main roles were played by Milos Bikovic, Gleb Kalyuzhny, Elena Podkaminskaya, Gosha Kutsenko, Zheng Hanyi and Yang Zihua.

"Red Silk" has become one of the most notable international Russian-Chinese film projects in recent years. It received the status of a national film in both Russia and China, and became, thanks to Chinese distribution, the most successful Russian film abroad in 2025. The painting has been sold to dozens of countries around the world and has received prestigious Russian and international awards. Now we are continuing the universe of the film with the sequel "Black Silk" and we are confident that the new project will adequately continue the success of the franchise in the Russian and international markets," said Svetlana Balanova, CEO of NMG.

The film grossed 688 million rubles at the Russian box office and $1.8 million at the Chinese box office. The rights to show the film have already been sold in 48 countries.

"Red Silk" is a story in which large—scale spectator cinema, the aesthetics of a retro detective story and an important historical context uniting Russia and China are organically intertwined. It is especially valuable for us that the film continues its festival life precisely within the framework of the Chinese Film Festival, a space where a lively cultural dialogue is born. It is obvious that interest in joint international projects is growing, and we are confident that such films will form a new point of attraction for audiences in both countries," said Anastasia Korchagina, CEO of Art Pictures Distribution.

ROSKINO CEO Elsa Antonova added that the festival is a great opportunity to get to know the diversity of the Chinese film industry, it is a cultural exchange that strengthens cultural ties between the two countries.

Red Silk will be shown in Yekaterinburg on June 10, in Moscow on June 13, and in Vladivostok on June 14.

On March 19, Andrei Volgin, the director of the Red Silk film, told Izvestia that the film crew had begun work on the sequel to the Russian-Chinese film. The new project is called "Black Silk". It was noted that filming takes place both in Russia and in China. Complex technical solutions are used for some scenes, including large-scale decorations and special pavilions.
