The Russian Educational Agency held the "Days of Russian Education in India" in New Delhi. The event, organized on the initiative of the Synergy Corporation and Innopraktika with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo, was attended by representatives of 18 Russian universities.
During the two-day event, ways to fulfill the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase the number of international students in Russia to 500,000 by 2030 were discussed. In this regard, the meeting participants discussed the promotion of Russian education in India, the mechanisms of recruiting Indian applicants and their socio-cultural adaptation, including the study of Russian language and culture.
Partnership agreements between universities and the Russian Educational Agency were signed at the event. The parties also discussed the expansion of the network of ambassadors of Russian education in India.
"One of the key tasks of the Russian Educational Agency is to popularize Russian education among Indian schoolchildren. We have organized an open interactive lesson of Russian language and culture for them. Presentations of educational programs were held in New Delhi schools, where students were told about the possibilities of studying at a higher school in the Russian Federation," said Vadim Lobov, President of the Synergy Corporation.
According to Synergy, Indian high school students are showing great interest in studying at Russian universities. At field events organized by the Russian Educational Agency, 2 thousand applications for training in domestic educational institutions were collected. In addition, in 2026, the agency's representative office in India provided access to Russian language courses on digital platforms to more than 5,000 high school students.
The first branch of the Russian Educational Agency was opened on December 4 last year in New Delhi. It is located in the diplomatic quarter of Chanakyapuri. The Agency provides information support for Indian applicants, organizes courses to prepare for entrance exams at Russian universities, and helps with paperwork and visa applications. The agency's second foreign office opened on May 28 this year in Xiamen, China.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, in 2025 the number of foreign students studying at Russian universities exceeded 400 thousand people. Most of them came from the CIS countries, China and India. In total, students from 179 countries study in Russia.
