France did not notify Russia about the seizure of the tanker Tagore in the Atlantic.

The French side did not notify the Russian Embassy in Paris about the operations to seize the Tagore tanker in the Atlantic. This was announced by the diplomatic mission on June 1.

"In general, there have been no notifications from the French side about actions against this vessel," the Russian representative office said in response to a request from RIA Novosti.

The embassy also added that it had sent a request to the country's authorities about the presence of Russian citizens on board the ship. In response, the French authorities stated that the captain of the vessel, according to preliminary information, is a citizen of the Russian Federation.

This is not the first attack on fuel vessels near the Turkish coast.

Earlier in the day, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the French Navy had seized the Tagore tanker in the Atlantic Ocean, which allegedly arrived from Russia. According to the Marine Traffic monitoring service, the tanker is flying the flag of Madagascar.
