Rosselkhoznadzor ordered Armenia to suspend certification of fish coming to Russia
Armenia needs to stop certifying fish intended for export to Russia by June 2. This was reported on the Rosselkhoznadzor website on June 1.
"As a result of the inspection, starting from June 2, 2026, the Armenian side needs to suspend veterinary certification to Russian recipients of live fish and fish products from all Armenian companies, with the exception of two that have passed the inspection," the ministry said in a statement.
The Rosselkhoznadzor added that the two fisheries that have passed the inspection will remain approved for export to Russia under laboratory testing of imported fish safety indicators.
Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan 31 noted that it is premature for Yerevan to think about choosing between the EAEU and the EU, until "the issue has become clear." He said that in this case, Armenia will be ready to "conduct stress tests" and calculate economic losses.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 29 that if Armenia were to adopt EU economic standards, integration processes with the republic would have to be curtailed. He warned that upon withdrawal from the EAEU, Armenia would lose access to free trade agreements, and its citizens would need to acquire patents to work in the Russian Federation.
