Russian troops have received new IL-76MD-90A heavy transport aircraft
Two military transport aviation regiments have been re-equipped with the IL-76MD-90A heavy transport aircraft. This was announced on June 1 by the commander of the military transport aviation, Lieutenant General Vladimir Benediktov.
"In 2025, the state defense order for us was completed in full. We have received new IL-76MD-90A aircraft, which have already been re–equipped with two regiments," Benediktov said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
He also noted that in parallel, the modernization of the most promising machines that were previously commissioned is underway. Thus, the IL-76MD, on which officers begin training, is being upgraded to its improved version, the Il-76MD-M.
On May 28, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation reported that work on the project to create the fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate fighter continues through the efforts of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
