- The district policeman, who was acquitted in the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus, continued his work
The policeman, whom the court found innocent of failing to control the fictitious registration in the Tver region of future defendants in the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, remains on duty. This was announced on June 1 by his lawyer Artemy Lastochkin.
"The persons mentioned in the charges were fictitiously registered at the administrative district in 2018-2021. They were de-registered long before the district police officer was appointed to the post in 2022. At the time of the terrorist attack, they lived in other municipalities of the region," the lawyer told RIA Novosti.
According to him, in 2022, a policeman identified and recorded the fact of fictitious registration. At that moment, there were no participants in the terrorist attack among those registered. A criminal case was opened on this fact, and the defendant was convicted. Lastochkin stressed that there is no connection between his client's work and the tragedy, and considers the acquittal to be lawful and fair.
On May 27, a court in the Tver region acquitted Anton Petukhov, a senior district police commissioner, who was accused of negligence for failing to take measures regarding the fictitious registration of two future terrorists.
The terrorist attack in Crocus occurred on March 22, 2024. Then armed terrorists in camouflage broke into the concert hall and opened fire, setting the premises on fire. As a result of the incident, 149 people were killed and over 600 were injured in various degrees of severity.
