- In France, the number of detainees during the riots after the victory of PSG exceeded 890
The number of people detained during the riots after the victory of the Paris Saint-Germain football club (PSG) has exceeded 890 people across the country. This was announced on June 1 by Interior Minister Laurent Nunez.
"We are talking about more than 890 arrests, which is 45% more than last year," he said on France Inter radio.
He stressed that since there are so many arrests, this indicates the high-quality work of law enforcement agencies.
In Paris, mass celebrations and riots began the day before after the victory of PSG. On May 30, the Eiffel Tower was illuminated in the red and blue colors of the club, and the inscription "Champion" appeared on it. At that time, 416 people were detained. It is also specified that businesses faced looting in about 15 cities of France.
Later that day, the Franceinfo newspaper, citing Nunes, reported that one person was killed and 60 injured during the riots. A total of 780 people had been detained by that time.
