Rosstandart approves preliminary GOST for gift sets for newborns
Rosstandart has approved a preliminary GOST for gift sets for newborns, developed by Roskachestvo. This was announced on June 1 in the press service of the organization.
The document will enter into force on November 1, 2026 and will be valid for three years.
"Now the Russian regions have a common understanding, based on the opinion of professionals and surveys of citizens, what a child really needs in the first year of life and what is not. The standard guarantees the priority of safety and quality, eliminates useless souvenirs and focuses on the support of domestic manufacturers. This is the real concern for families," Maxim Protasov, head of Roskachestvo, told TASS.
The document is aimed at supporting the institution of family, motherhood and fatherhood, as well as the development of domestic and regional manufacturers of children's goods. The application of GOST will simplify procurement under 44-FZ and ensure equal access for manufacturers.
The approximate list of products to be included in the set includes children's clothing (sliders, vests, caps, booties), bedding (diapers, sheets, blankets, mattress pads), bathing and hygiene supplies, care products, children's tableware, toys, medical products, as well as retroreflective elements. It is proposed to supplement the set with information materials: brochures on breastfeeding, a vaccination calendar, and memos on government support measures.
