The beginning of the PSG victory celebration
After the French club's victory in the Champions League final, about 20,000 fans gathered on the Champs-Elysees, some of whom set off fireworks and flares. Paris police have deployed thousands of officers to control crowds in some of the city's hot spots.
At least 283 people were detained in Paris on the first day after clashes with police, with 416 arrests nationwide. It is also specified that businesses faced looting in about 15 cities of France.
Aftermath of the riots
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced on May 31 that one person was killed and 60 injured during the riots in Paris. According to him, compared to the previous year, the number of detainees in 2026 was 32% higher.
A total of 219 people suffered from the violent victory celebrations across the country, eight of them were assessed as in serious condition. In addition, 57 employees were also injured by law enforcement officers.
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, noted that spontaneous pogroms and looting in France are linked, among other things, to uncontrolled migration in Europe.
