Marina Kondratyuk, the wife of the Russian goalkeeper of the Paris Saint-Germain football club Matvey Safonov, said on May 31 that she had assembled a Russian tricolor of small flags designed for the French flag on the podium of the Champions League final.

"The guys and I built a flag from the flags we were given, the tricolor of France. They took pictures of the sticks they were holding on to. That's how our flag was actually produced," she said in a video posted on her Telegram channel.

Kondratyuk explained that the couple had forgotten the Russian flag at home, and in order for the country's flag to appear on the podium and then on the field of Budapest's Puskas Arena, they used small flags to support the French fans.

PSG beat English Arsenal on May 30 and won the Champions League for the second time in a row. Following the meeting, Safonov became the first Russian to win the Champions League twice. For the 27-year-old goalkeeper, this title was the second in a row in the Paris club.

On May 31, Matvey Safonov's first coach Alexey Chistyakov, in an interview with Izvestia, commented on the second victory of the Russian goalkeeper as part of the French Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. According to him, Safonov's success is due to his dedication, ability to set high goals, as well as sociability and openness in communication.
