A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The North group of troops defeated the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. As a result of the actions of Russian servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 185 militants, 19 vehicles, a 105 mm M101 howitzer and an electronic warfare station.

In addition, the Southern Group of Troops defeated formations of three mechanized, airmobile, mountain assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Nikolaevka, Kramatorsk, Yurkovka, Rai-Alexandrovka, Orekhovatka, Konstantinovka and Malinovka of the DPR. The Ukrainian army has lost more than 165 fighters in this area.

"The units of the Vostok group of forces continued to advance into the depth of the enemy's defenses. The manpower and equipment of the mechanized, assault, amphibious assault brigades and three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were defeated in the areas of settlements <...> of the Dnipropetrovsk region, <...>..> Zaporozhye region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost over 445 servicemen," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated production workshops, long-range drone launch sites, fuel storage bases, transport and energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 143 districts.

In turn, the air defense systems shot down four guided aerial bombs, two HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and 405 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, since the beginning of the special operation, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost 671 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 154,089 UAVs, 661 anti-aircraft missile systems, 29,561 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,729 multiple rocket launchers, 35,151 field artillery and mortars, 62,952 pieces of special vehicles.
