The strategy of behavior when encountering an Amur tiger on the road should be chosen depending on the circumstances. Sergey Aramilev, General Director of the Amur Tiger Center, spoke about ways to protect himself from this wild animal on May 31.

"A person's behavior depends on the circumstances of the meeting. If we are in a car and we see a tiger in front of us, we need to stop driving. If the tiger got out in front of the car, do not drive up to him. If we shorten the distance, it may provoke the beast to demonstrate aggression, which will not lead to an attack on the car," the RIA Novosti expert explained.

At the same time, the Amur tiger can attack a car if the driver gets too close or tries to run over the animal. As the expert noted, passengers in the cabin should not open windows or leave the car.

"You need to stop moving towards the tiger, enjoy the beautiful sight, you can take it on video, but in no case open the windows, do not get out of the car, do not approach the beast — do not become Darwin Prize winners. This applies not only to the tiger, but also to other large animals," Aramilev advised.

Ekaterina Blidchenko, a senior researcher at the Directorate of the Land of the Leopard Nature Reserves, reported on May 30 that most cases of brown bear attacks on humans in forests are associated with violations of safety rules when people move alone. On May 27, she also spoke about her actions when meeting a bear. According to her, when encountering a brown bear, it is necessary to increase the distance to the animal and not try to run away, as well as try to visually appear larger in order to reduce the risk of an attack.
