The NYT learned about Trump's tightening of the terms of the nuclear agreement with Iran

US President Donald Trump has put forward tougher conditions for a possible agreement with Iran to end the conflict, changing the initial draft of the framework agreement. This was reported on May 31 by The New York Times (NYT), citing informed officials.

"President Trump has tightened the terms of a potential framework agreement to end the war with Iran and sent the proposed changes to the country for consideration," the article says.

According to the publication, it is not yet specified exactly what edits the head of the White House made to the text of the document. However, it is known that Trump is not satisfied with several points providing for the unfreezing of Iranian assets. In addition, one of the sources noted that the American leader does not like the speed with which Tehran responds to Washington's proposals.

The new version, as the author of the article notes, is a tightened version of the previous framework agreement and is designed to push Tehran to a faster solution. The document is currently awaiting approval by the Supreme Leader of Iran, as specified in the publication. The Trump administration expects that pressure will accelerate the negotiation process.

At the same time, his colleague from the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, stressed on May 27 that representatives of his country's diplomatic staff did not intend to make decisions based on Trump's emotional publications.

The head of the White House, in turn, announced on May 29 that he would allegedly make a final decision on a potential deal with Iran on the same day. Later, the NYT newspaper learned that Trump was unable to do what he promised, as some issues of the future agreement are still being discussed.
