Mass celebrations and riots began in Paris after the victory of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on May 30. The Eiffel Tower was illuminated in the red and blue colors of the club, and the inscription "Champion" appeared on it.
"Paris police have deployed thousands of officers to control crowds in some of the city's hot spots," the Reuters news agency reported.
It is noted that about 20 thousand fans gathered on the Champs-Elysees, some of whom launched fireworks and flares. About 22,000 police officers were deployed to maintain order in France.
PSG beat English Arsenal on May 30 and won the Champions League for the second time in a row. During the main time of the match, the teams scored one goal each. Kai Havertz from Arsenal opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Later, in the 65th minute, Ousmane Dembele helped the Parisians to win back and equalize the game. As a result, PSG became the winner, showing the best result in a penalty shootout.
