A meteorite entering the atmosphere caused the sound of a double explosion in Massachusetts.

A meteorite with a diameter of about 1 m that entered the Earth's atmosphere caused an explosion similar to that heard by residents of Massachusetts. This was reported on May 30 by the Associated Press (AP) with reference to the American Meteoric Society.

"The American Meteor Society stated that the explosions, which were heard around 2:30 p.m., were actually caused by a meteor with a diameter of about 1 m that entered the atmosphere near the border of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, north of Boston," the publication says.
