The destruction of the engine or reactor hall of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) can lead to a catastrophe similar to the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This was announced on May 30 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, in the Maks messenger.

"I have already written about this once, but I will repeat these harsh words again: it is obvious that in the event of a catastrophic destruction of the engine or reactor hall of a nuclear power plant, a new Chernobyl will occur," he said.
