WHO has pointed to an increase in nicotine use by adolescents worldwide
The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced an increase in the consumption of nicotine-containing products among adolescents. This was reported by the Turkiye Today newspaper on May 30.
"At least 40 million children aged 13-15 currently use tobacco products, while the consumption of e—cigarettes and nicotine spiders continues to increase worldwide," the article says.
The organization stated that tobacco and nicotine companies purposefully make their products more attractive to teenagers through flavorings, bright packaging and digital marketing.
WHO also pointed out that about 160 countries do not have special regulations for nicotine spiders, and called on the authorities to tighten control over the sale and advertising of such products.
Ruslan Isaev, a psychiatrist, narcologist, and president of the Independent Narcological Guild, reported on June 27, 2025, that teenagers make up about 90% of e-cigarette users in Russia. He spoke about the harmful effects of vaping with nicotine on all human body systems, including brain function.
