Italy has cancelled two concerts featuring American rappers Kanye West and Travis Scott, which were scheduled to take place in July in the northern city of Reggio Emilia for security reasons. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on May 30.

"West has faced a wave of cancellations of performances across Europe after years of anti—Semitic statements, including statements praising Adolf Hitler. <...> Security at Scott's concerts has been criticized since a stampede at the Houston festival in 2021 killed 10 people," the publication said.

The authors of the material clarified that the local prefect Salvatore Angieri ordered the cancellation of the events due to concerns about public order and security, including the possibility of protests. Scott was scheduled to perform at the Pulse of Gaia Festival on July 17 at the 103,000-seat RCF Arena, and West was scheduled to perform the next day.

On April 7, British authorities banned Kanye West from entering the country to participate in the Wireless Festival amid outrage over his anti-Semitic remarks. He was supposed to come to the country for the first time in 11 years. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that the rapper "should never have been invited to perform" on Wireless.
