The European Commission has asked the EU countries to exclude Ukraine from the list of states with the status of a "safe country", which allows the EU to speed up the return of asylum seekers to their homeland. This was reported by Euractiv on May 29.
It is specified that the request was received against the background of discussions by the governments of the EU countries on the future regime of temporary protection for millions of Ukrainians staying in the European Union.
