Medinsky appreciated the work with the writing community in Bashkiria
Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of Russia, chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society, said that Bashkiria has built a high-quality work with the literary community and this experience should be adopted by other regions of the country. He wrote about this on his social networks following a visit to Ufa, where the Kitap Bayram International book Fair opened on May 28.
"I always fly away from Ufa in a good mood. It's nice to see how much attention the head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, pays to writers. If they are in Ufa, I would recommend that the heads of regions and those responsible locally for culture, print, and the media visit the House of Writers of Bashkortostan. Because this is not only the pearl of old Ufa, but also an example of how to work with the writing community," said Medinsky.
The head of the republic, Radiy Khabirov, stressed that the forum is of key importance for the popularization of Russian literature.
Kitap Bayram is one of the brightest, most necessary and warm events in our republic. This fair is of great importance for the promotion of Russian books and Russian authors. We are also doing a lot of work against the enemy who wants to spoil our world," Khabirov was quoted as saying on the regional government's VK page.
The book festival will last in the capital of Bashkiria until May 30. In 2026, the event brought together more than 95 publishers, bookselling chains, writers and public figures from Russia, Belarus and Iran. The forum program includes presentations of new books, discussions and creative meetings with authors.
