By the end of 2025, Russia has become the largest producer of leguminous crops among exporting countries. This was announced on May 29 by the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut at the final meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, the harvest of legumes last year exceeded 8 million tons.

"Russia's share in global production has grown from 6% to 10%, and we have become the largest producer of legumes among all exporting countries," said Lut.

The minister also said that in 2025, Russian farmers have harvested a record harvest of oilseeds. In particular, soybean production continued to increase, which makes it possible to meet the needs of the livestock industry in the country.

In addition, last year saw an increase in the harvest of potatoes, sugar beets and fruits, while the vegetable harvest remained at record levels in 2024.

On May 28, analysts at the Rosselkhoznadzor's Center for Industry Expertise reported that from January to April 2026, the People's Republic of China (PRC) imported almost 4 million tons of agricultural goods from Russia, which is 38% more than in the same period last year. Experts called it noteworthy that almost all regions of the country are involved in deliveries. The largest contribution to agricultural exports has traditionally been made by the Southern, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts.
