The EAEU countries have adopted a statement on the responsible development of AI
The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have adopted, at the initiative of Astana, a statement on the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI). This was stated on May 29 by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the summit of the association.
"I thank my colleagues for their support of Kazakhstan's proposals. The most important confirmation of our unanimity was the adoption of a joint statement on the responsible development of AI," he said.
The Kazakh leader clarified that he and his colleagues had developed this resolution, trying to adapt the EAEU to modern realities. According to Tokayev, the implementation of the process will help the interstate union strengthen external stability and increase competitiveness.
Now, as the President of Kazakhstan added, the participants face several tasks in this area at once. These include strengthening the digital foundation of Eurasian integration and digitalizing the Eurasian transport corridors. Tokayev clarified that the appropriate steps are dictated by time.
A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed to cooperation between Moscow and Astana in the implementation of AI. The results of the tandem, according to him, are used in the economic and social spheres, as well as important other sectors.
The Russian leader and his Kazakh counterpart also visited the exhibition of digital projects of the EAEU countries. The heads of state were accompanied by representatives of the delegations, as well as the head of the Ministry of Digital Development of Communications and Mass Media of Russia Maksut Shadaev. During the tour, he told Putin and Tokayev about the use of AI technologies in the Russian economic sector.
