The Vice President of Cuba thanked Russia for its help in supplying oil during the blockade

Cuba expresses gratitude to Russia for oil supplies, which were carried out even under the economic blockade by the United States. This was stated on May 29 by Vice President of the island state Salvador Valdez Mesa, delivering a speech at the summit of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Council (EAEU).

"Our country is being subjected to a criminal economic war imposed by the United States government. <...> Since the beginning of this year, <...>..> a vessel with 100 thousand tons of oil. This was made possible thanks to the help of the Russian Federation, in which we express our sincere gratitude," he said.

Based on this, the Cuban vice president clarified that his country does not consider itself alone.

He expressed gratitude to all those gathered for their support and constant solidarity. This, according to Valdez Mesa, is felt by Havana at times when it continues to follow the path of its economic development complicated by Washington.

Oil is not strong: a Cuban delegation will arrive in Russia to discuss the supply of raw materials

A meeting of the parliamentarians of the two countries is scheduled for next week.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on May 18 that the Russian side is in constant contact with the Cuban side and is discussing providing assistance to it as part of these dialogues. Two days earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow was outraged by Washington's level of cynicism, which continues to tighten the economic blockade of the Latin American island nation.

Meanwhile, on May 16, Izvestia learned from journalist Polina Alvarez how the locals live in Cuba now. She clarified that while the country's authorities are taking countermeasures to American actions, citizens are trying to adapt without losing optimism.
