The Greek authorities are preparing an official diplomatic protest to Ukraine after the discovery of a marine drone off the coast of the country, presumably of Ukrainian origin. This was announced on May 29 by the Euroactiv portal.

"Greece is preparing an official diplomatic protest to Kiev after a Ukrainian naval drone with explosives was discovered near one of the Greek islands," the publication says.

The device was found by fishermen near the island of Lefkada. It was previously established that the drone lost control and drifted in the water area. It is reported that there were about 100 kg of explosives on board.

According to Euroactiv, the incident has caused concern in Greek political circles, where they fear possible consequences for the security and tourism industry of the country.

The Politico newspaper reported on May 12 that the Greek authorities faced criticism from the opposition after the discovery of a Ukrainian naval drone off the coast of Lefkada Island. According to media reports, on May 8, an unmanned Magura V3 boat was found off the coast of the island. It was claimed that there were detonators on board.

Later, on May 26, Greek fishermen discovered a sea mine on the northern coast of the island of Crete, presumably by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The ammunition was located on a rocky area in the area of Agios Andonios between the villages of Milatos and Elounda. The fishermen who found the shell immediately notified the authorities, after which coast guard officers arrived at the scene.
