The expert spoke about the forms of manifestation of hantavirus

Depending on the type, Hantavirus can manifest itself in two main clinical forms — fever with kidney damage or hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. This was announced on May 29 by Yulia Minakova, an infectious disease specialist, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at the Siberian State Medical University.

"There are more than 50 types of hantaviruses that can cause two clinical manifestations. This is, firstly, the notorious hantavirus cardiopulmonary (or pulmonary) syndrome, and the second clinical form is hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. Depending on which serotype a person is infected with, they develop either one or the other form," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
