Nebenzia pointed to the desire of Kiev and its sponsors to escalate the conflict.

The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, and his sponsors are not interested in a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated on May 28 by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzia during a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine.

He added that both Zelensky and his sponsors are doing everything to escalate the confrontation.

"Neither the leader of the Kiev regime nor his sponsors seek a substantive dialogue on the prospects for a peaceful settlement with our country, but they are doing everything to escalate the confrontation," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
