Hungary will not supply weapons and military equipment to the conflict zone in Ukraine. This was announced on May 28 by Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar following a meeting in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

"I have informed the Secretary General that Hungary will not supply any weapons or military equipment to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict zone," he said on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

At the same time, the politician declared Hungary's intention to become a "reliable partner" of NATO. During the meeting, the sides also discussed the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Mark Rutte informed me about the preparations for the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7-8 and the details of the international conflict that has arisen in the Strait of Hormuz," Magyar said.

Magyar also said on May 22 that Budapest was not considering sending its troops to Ukraine. The Hungarian authorities have repeatedly stated the need for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict and opposed steps that, according to Budapest, could lead to further escalation of the situation.
