Olympic figure skating champion Tatiana Navka has challenged the sanctions against herself in the European Union (EU) Court. This became known on May 28 from the relevant documents.

According to TASS, the 51-year-old athlete was included in the sanctions list in June 2022 as part of the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions.

Navka was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of Russia (2004), and in 2007 she was awarded the Order of Friendship.

On April 30, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced the completion of Operation LIMS, which imposed 302 sanctions on 291 Russian athletes. Russian athletes in athletics, weightlifting, biathlon, wrestling and other sports are subject to restrictions. There are para-athletes among them.

On March 24, World Athletics lifted all sanctions against the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) in connection with doping violations. Now Russian athletes will be able to compete at international tournaments under the national flag. Prior to that, the VFLA was suspended from international competitions in 2015 after a report by the independent WADA commission.
