A man stole a Mercedes for a trip around Sevastopol

A resident of the Sverdlovsk region stole a car in Sevastopol for the sake of new experiences. The spontaneous desire turned into a criminal case for the man, the press service of the city Interior Ministry reported on Thursday, May 28.

In the afternoon, a 35-year-old Ural man was walking around the city and noticed a Mercedes-Benz parked in one of the courtyards. For the sake of interest, he pulled the door handle of the car and it turned out to be unlocked.

Deciding that the universe was giving him a sign, the attacker got behind the wheel and went on a trip. The man took a ride around Sevastopol, had a barbecue picnic, and only the next day parked the car near the hijacking site.

The suspect was detained by police officers, writes IA SevastopolMedia. A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Unlawful possession of a car or other vehicle without the purpose of theft."

The person involved is currently on his own recognizance. For a spontaneous desire to ride in someone else's car, he faces up to five years in prison.
