More than 160 people suffered from tick bites in the Pskov region

Over the past week, 163 people have contacted doctors with tick bites in the Pskov region. There are 36 children among the injured.

The most frequent cases of bites occurred in rural settlements, on the territories of dachas and in the forest. A total of 679 people have been injured since the start of the season. The first bite was recorded on March 15. This is reported by the Pskov news feed.

Tick activity turned out to be 57.8% lower than the long-term average. 550 ticks were received for research in the laboratory. 28.2% of the pests turned out to be carriers of borreliosis, and another 4.1% carried monocytic ehrlichiosis.

Entomologists remind that ticks do not jump or chase a person. To protect against pests, it is enough to choose thick clothing without exposed skin areas.
