The State Duma responded to Callas' condition for negotiations on Ukraine
The European Union (EU) is too weak to demand anything from Russia. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, said this on Thursday, May 28, commenting on the plans of the association to put forward conditions to Moscow in the event of negotiations on Ukraine.
Earlier in the day, the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, said that the European Union wants to demand that Russia limit its Armed Forces in the event of negotiations on Ukraine.
"Callas says that we must, let her say this inside the European Union or to those countries that depend on the European Union, for example, Ukraine. We don't have the EU, but the EAEU, she probably confused the abbreviation," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru stressing that Russia will pursue only its own interests.
Political analyst Ivan Mezyuho said on May 26 that Europe's key problem is that it does not know what to talk about with Russia in potential negotiations. According to him, the issue is not only about personal negotiators, but also about the topic.
