An American court has sentenced Matthew Perry's former assistant Kenneth Iwamas to prison in the case of the death of a Hollywood star, the decision was made because the man regularly supplied the actor with ketamine. This was reported on May 28 by The Guardian newspaper.
Iwamasa will have to spend three years and five months in prison.
"Kenneth Iwamasa, 61, pleaded guilty to distributing ketamine causing death or serious bodily injury. The sentence imposed on him met the requirements of the prosecutor's office," the publication says.
In addition, on April 8, drug dealer Jaswin Sangha was convicted in the case of the death of Perry, known from the TV series "Friends". A Los Angeles court sentenced a woman to 15 years in prison for giving an actor a lethal dose of ketamine.
The death of 54-year-old actor Matthew Perry became known on October 29, 2023. He was found in the Jacuzzi of his own home in California. No traces of drugs were found near the place of death of the artist. Rescuers responded to a cardiac arrest call. On the same day, the US police launched an investigation into the actor's death. Later, forensic experts found ketamine in Perry's body.
The New York Times reported on June 17, 2025, that the artist's doctor, Salvador Placencia, admitted to supplying him with ketamine before his death. ABC News reported on December 4 that Placencia was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison. Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett also sentenced him to two years of probation after his release.
