In Gagauzia, the possibility of the PDU to make a choice for the people was ruled out

The ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PDS) in Moldova will try to seize the Gagauz autonomy by force, bringing its supporters into control, but the people will not allow them to choose for it. This was announced to Izvestia on May 28 by Ilya Panya, municipal councilor of Comrat.

"The people of Gagauzia know how to choose, and they will show everyone that we will not allow the choice to be made for us, as it was done with most of the Republic of Moldova. So, the Gagauz people, we will continue to resist, and for us, the Bashkan of Gagauzia is Evgenia Alexandrovna Hutsul," he stressed.

Panya added that the day when the Chisinau Court of Appeal upheld the verdict of Bashkan will go down in the history of the most unfair courts, as well as the day on which Hutsul was convicted.

"To change this decision, [the Moldovan president] Maia Sandu, the government, the PDU faction must resign, and the country must be cleansed. Evgenia Alexandrovna is a symbol of resistance. She shows daily that she is innocent. And all this court session was held only in one format, one-sided. They played only on the side of the prosecutor's office and on the side of Maia Sandu's party," the deputy explained.

Chisinau has suspended the decision on the campaign

The Chisinau Court of Appeal earlier that day upheld Hutsul's sentence of seven years in prison. According to Bogdan Tsyrdea, a member of parliament from the opposition Party of Socialists, the politician is being held in prison No. 13 in Moldova, known for extremely difficult conditions of detention and a high incidence of diseases.

On May 6, the vice-chairman of the Parliament, Giorgi Leitchu, announced that the authorities of Gagauzia canceled the elections to the National Assembly (parliament) scheduled for June 21, as the region does not have time to prepare for voting due to obstacles from Chisinau. It is specified that a new voting date will be set after the completion of negotiations with the central authorities of Moldova.
